Featured Story: Texas Incomplete on Health Insurance Exchanges

Cover Texas Now member TexPIRG’s recent report “Making the Grade: A Scorecard for State Health Insurance Exchanges” indicates Texas is one of 24 states with an "incomplete" in it’s scorecard on health insurance exchanges. According to the report Texas has accepted federal planning grants but has yet to acknowledge whether they'll run their own exchanges or let the federal government come in and set one up.

TexPIRG’s scorecard is weighted toward states designing exchanges that aren't dominated by the insurance industry, include employers of up to 100 people immediately and that urge consumers toward high-quality plans and plans incorporating some of the new payment changes pegged to delivering better patient outcomes.
