More than 100 health advocates and citizen lobbyists from across the state converged at the State Capitol calling upon the legislature to make Health Coverage for Texans a priority this session. The event was sponsored by Cover Texas Now!, a project of more than a dozen organizations representing patients, providers, hospitals, insurers, advocates, communities of faith, and businesses that support a comprehensive approach to increasing access to quality affordable health coverage and ensuring a sustainable health care infrastructure for all Texas.

Presentations were given on key legislative issues regarding CHIP and Medicaid, private health insurance, and federal stimulus funds. After which, participants met with over 100 members of the legislature and legislative staffers. Following their meetings, the advocates hosted legislators and their staffs at a reception in the Legislative Conference Center in the Capitol Extension.
Participants were informed of ways they could improve and share their knowledge of the issues, and encouraged to participate in effective activities beyond health lobby day that contribute towards health care solutions.
